Dear Readers:

People’s United Community Foundation Grant Award

We are very pleased to let you know CfAL has been awarded a $5,200 grant from the People’s United Community Foundation. This grant will be used to help sustain our parent computer program for parents who have children attending the New Haven Public Schools district.

The program gives underserved parents technology skills, and extends learning beyond the 4 walls of the classroom for their children. The goal of the program is to increase students’ academic achievement by increasing parents’ participation in their children’s education at home.

With this grant, we plan to give computer training to 40 parents who have children attending Fair Haven School, and upon completing training, we will give the families a gently-used computer and install it in their home. They will also receive a year of technical support.

People’s United Community Foundation and CfAL are working together to improve students’ education and strengthen the vitality of New Haven’s poorest neighborhoods.

Thank you People’s United Community Foundation for being our community partner.
