We are very pleased to share with you the good news that CfAL’s has been awarded a $7,500 grant by the NewAlliance Foundation.
The grant award will be used to help sustain our Technology Cascade & Training Program for disadvantaged families that have children attending New Haven Public Schools.
Through this grant and financial support from other sources, CfAL will give computer training to 60 parents who have school-age children. Upon completing training, CfAL will give the families a gently-used computer, running current software, and install the computer in their home. The goal of the parent computer program is to close the technology gap for disadvantaged students, while the program achieves it primary objectives to extend learning beyond the 4 walls of the classroom for students, and increase parents’ involvement in their children’s education at home.
On behalf of our Board, staff and volunteers, we are truly thankful for this grant and having the opportunity to partner with the NewAlliance Foundation, as we mutually strive to improve students’ education and strengthen the New Haven community.
