In its efforts to help improve public school children’s education in the City of New Haven, United Illuminating Holdings and Southern Connecticut Gas has awarded CfAL with a $1,5000 grant. The grant will be used to help sustain CfAL’s Technology Cascade & Training program. The program gives computer training and gently-used computers to parents that have children attend New Haven Public Schools.
The objectives of the program are to extend learning beyond the classroom and increase disadvantaged parents’ involvement in their children’s education at home. These objectives have proven to increase nearly 5,000 New Haven Public School students’ learning outcomes.
This grant will help give computer training to 40 more disadvantaged parents, and impact the education of 80 plus students.
Thank you to United Illuminating Holdings and Southern Connecticut Gas for being a steadfast community partner. Our partnership with United Illuminating Holdings and Southern Connecticut Gas strives to strengthen the New Haven community by improving students’ literacy and education.
